National Park Week is April 15 through 23 this year. Secretary Ryan Zinke of the Department of the Interior has five helpful tips for visitors to stay safe at National Parks.
Keep the parks beautiful by properly disposing of all garbage and keep our waterways and hot springs free of litter and contaminants.
When taking selfies, stay a safe distance from wildlife and stay on designated paths.
Stay in your car if wildlife is on the road. Park in designated areas and follow the posted speed limit.
If in bear country, make noise, hike in groups, and carry bear spray.
Whether you are hiking in the backcountry or visiting a National Park Service historic or cultural site, be respectful of others and help protect a Park’s majesty for generations to come
