Australian Police have released dramatic video of a stolen car being driven at high speed through the streets of Belmont.
The video shows the vehicle overtaking other cars using the emergency lane, and driving through red lights.
The video was recorded by the police helicopter, which directed ground patrols as the pursuit went on.
Police say the use of the helicopter allowed police vehicles to keep a safe distance back from the stolen BMW.
Police tried to stop the car just before 1.30pm on Hardey Road on Thursday but it was driven off at high speed.
Eventually the vehicle was abandoned in the car park of a block of units on King George Street in Victoria Park and the driver and passenger tried to run away.
Both were arrested nearby.
A 21-year-old Langford man, who police say was the driver, has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle, failing to stop, reckless driving and having no driving licence.
The passenger, a 20-year-old from Carlisle, has been charged with stealing a car.
